Choosing the right code type

The creation screen shows fourteen tiles: web address, menu, business card, wifi, PDF... It's hard to tell them apart at a glance when you just want to do one specific thing.

Step by step

1. Ask yourself what the person should be able to do after scanning.
2. Scan through the tiles on the creation screen and spot the matching one.
3. If in doubt, pick "Web address": it's the most flexible type.
4. Click the tile to move to the Content step.

The fourteen types available

Web address redirects to any page. Restaurant menu shows a card with sections, prices and allergens. Business card opens a contact sheet with a button to add it to a phone. Link list groups several links on a single page, handy as a social media bio link. PDF hosts a document that can be viewed and downloaded. Wifi connects straight to the network without typing the password.

Text shows a plain message. Email and SMS pre-fill a message ready to send. Phone call dials a number. WhatsApp opens a conversation, optionally with a pre-filled text. Google review points to your review page. Location opens a map at precise coordinates. Event offers to add an appointment to a calendar.

How to decide in one minute

Ask what the person needs to do in a single move after scanning. If the answer is one action (call, connect to wifi, open a map), a simple type is enough. If you want to present several pieces of information at once (a card, a menu, several links), pick a dedicated page type instead.
