Create your first QR code

You just opened your Scanolo account and the creation screen asks you to pick a code type. You hesitate: which type, and can you still change your mind afterward?

The answer

A code is created in three steps: type, content, then design. Once created, it is active right away, and you can come back and edit its content, its look or its status at any time, even after it has been printed.

Step by step

  1. From your dashboard, click "Create a code".
  2. Choose a code type from the list (web address, wifi, business card, menu...).
  3. Fill in the Name field: this name shows up in your list, it isn't the code's content.
  4. Fill in the fields for the type you picked.
  5. Adjust the colors and shape if you want, then click "Create code".

What happens right after you create it

The code shows up in your list with an "Active" badge. If you picked dynamic mode, a short address like scanolo.com/r/Ab3dFg is generated: that's what the QR code encodes, not your destination directly. That's exactly what lets you change it later without reprinting.

You can download the artwork right away as SVG or PNG from the code's page, or come back later once you've polished the design.

Test before printing in bulk

Scan the code with two different phones, an iPhone and an Android if you can, before running a large print job. Also check that the destination page displays well on mobile: that's often where your customers form their first impression, not on the code itself.

Frequently asked questions

Does the code work right after it's created?

Yes. As soon as you click "Create code", it redirects or shows its content with no delay.

Can I change the code type after creating it?

No, the type is set at creation. If you picked the wrong one, create a new code of the right type and archive the old one.
